On the Facebook engineering website, the company said that in the new multi-device support, each device will connect to your WhatsApp independently, maintaining the same level of privacy and security through end-to-end encryption.

The feature has not yet been started for the stable version of WhatsApp. So it may happen that you cannot use it right now. It further states that they will make better use of the performance and also add some additional features before launching it on a large scale. It is not clear whether all Android and iOS beta users will get the feature or not.
