Former Indian cricketer Chetan Chauhan passed away on Sunday. He was infected with coronavirus. His death was informed by his younger brother Pushpendra Chauhan. Chetan Chauhan breathed his last at Medanta Hospital in Gurugram. Chetan was also a minister in the UP government. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed grief over his death. Let us tell you, Chetan Chauhan is the second cabinet minister of the Yogi government, who has died due to corona virus. Earlier, cabinet minister Kamala Rani died due to corona virus at PGI, Lucknow.

PM Modi said, ‘Chetan Chauhan ji distinguished himself first as a brilliant cricketer and later as a hardworking political leader. Played 40 test matches for India

Chauhan has played 40 Test matches for India. His age was 73 years. Chauhan was the longest opening cricketer along with Sunil Gavaskar. After turning out to be Kovid positive, Chauhan was admitted to Sanjay Gandhi PGI in Lucknow on 12 July. Chouhan’s condition deteriorated due to kidney related ailments and he was shifted to Medanta Hospital in Gurugram. There he was on life support for about 36 hours.

Chouhan is the second minister of the UP government, who has lost his life from Corona. Earlier on August 2, UP Government’s Technical Education Minister Kamala Rani Varun died of this epidemic. She was 62 years old.

Chouhan’s Political Career

After saying goodbye to cricket, Chetan Chauhan started his innings in politics. Chetan Chauhan has also been a Lok Sabha MP from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). In the 1991 and 1998 elections, he became an MP on a BJP ticket. At present, Chetan Chauhan was a minister in the Yogi government of Uttar Pradesh. At present, Chouhan was the MLA of Naugaowa assembly of Amroha district.
